Quiz winners

A fantastic quiz night ended with Mr Hillier's team victorious, although Nell Thackray's knowledge of musicals was amazing. It was good to see all pupils in all year groups socialising and working well together.

Today has been the hottest day yet and some interesting sun and goggle tans are apparent. All of the groups are now up the mountain and skiing blues and beyond. Mr Marwood had earned the chicken hat for tomorrow for consistently falling over dramatically and the valley was echoing chicken noises as he caught up with his group. After skiing, all of the group had photos taken and will be bringing a group photo home as a souvenir.

There is some snow forecast for tomorrow but let's hope for some more great skiing.

Up the mountain

We have had a fantastic day skiing and all groups are heading high up the mountain and becoming more adventurous. The beginners groups are skiing green and blue runs and the intermediates have been skiing reds with some jumps and tricks added as well. The advanced group have been in the snow park this morning and completing some more challenging off piste, with a few tumbles thrown in.

Half of the group are going bowling and half the group are bum boarding tonight. Last night some of the group went to a very luxurious spa and enjoyed some time swimming and in the jacuzzis.

Everyone is excited as there is chocolate brownie for tea. Some much needed sugar after a hard day's skiing.

Mixed weather

Today has seen a variety of weather conditions in resort. After some snow last night, piste conditions were excellent and the sun came out for the morning session. Hard work and sweat were the theme of the morning.

Morgan Campbell has been awarded the chicken hat for today for the most humorous fall and has enjoyed the attention that has accompanied this. All groups are starting to be pushed a bit more with some tree line skiing, jumps and working further up the mountain. Due to this there are some tired eyes and legs this evening. Half of the group has gone to a spa in the local village and the other half are watching the Jamaican bobsleigh team do their stuff in Cool Runnings in the hotel. The group are getting on well and everybody is socialising, with the pool table taking a hammering in the process.

Good conditions are expected in the morning after some more snowfall this afternoon, which made visibility poor up high. I will try to get some photos of the groups on as long as the wifi can handle it.

Excitement for bingo

We are just heading to bed after tiring ourselves out with some very competitive games of bingo. There was some does disappointment and arguing when games were won by others, maybe more from the staff than anyone else, but an enjoyable night had by all.

Snow and rain started to come in this afternoon and evening, so conditions high up in the mountains will be good in the morning. Again, all groups had an enjoyable afternoon and made good progress.

Another early morning awaits us so off to bed we go. More updates tomorrow as wifi seems to be a bit more consistent today.

First morning skiing

I have finally found a computer that works to update the blog. After a long day travelling yesterday and many diversions due to traffic, we arrived at the hotel and completed our ski fit before dinner.  There were many tired faces and most dragged themselves off to bed early after dinner.

Slightly refreshed this morning, we headed out and all groups have enjoyed a good first morning.  All beginners have made a great start and are building up their skills well.  The intermediate groups are starting to head up the mountain and the advanced group are building up the speed.

We are about to head in for lunch and then out for another 2 hours of skiing this afternoon.  The forecast for today is for some snow higher up and it is beginning to cloud over but it is still warm everywhere.

I will update the blog as regularly as possible but the wifi and internet is very temperamental so it is not always possible to get on to the blog myself.

Monday 21 March 2016

All pupils will need to arrive at school at 2.00am on Saturday 26th March.  Pupils will be required to hand in their passport and EHIC cards to a member of staff as they get on to the bus.

The baggage limit at the airport is 20kg.  Please do not exceed this as there is an additional charge of £10 per kilo that will be charged to the individual pupil.  Also, please make sure that there are no liquids present in hand luggage, including deodorants and sun cream.  If these are found in hand luggage at the airport, security staff will dispose of these and extras will need to be bought to replace them.

The flight number for the outward journey is ENT501.

At present, the resort is due for a lot of snow during the first couple of days that we are there and conditions will be fantastic.  We are looking forward to a great week!
